Indian B40 individuals receive RM80 monthly food aid

The Socio-Economic Development of Indian Community Unit (Sedic), an agency under the Prime Minister's Department, today launched a programme to provide an RM80 monthly handout for the poor among the Indian Malaysian community.
Recipients under the 'Indian Welfare Programme' will receive the sum as stored value in their MyKad from the MyKasih Foundation, which can be used for selected items in participating Giant, The Store and Econsave stores throughout the country.
Around 105 individuals received the handouts at the launch today in Giant Kota Damansara.
MIC central committee member P Kamalanathan, who was present at the launch, said that the programme would eventually provide aid to as many as 100,000 from the Indian Malaysian community to fulfil their basic needs.
"This RM80 handout will be credited to their MyKad, and each item purchased will be debited from that amount at participating stores.
"Approximately RM24 million has been provided to implement this programme for 100,000 Indians over the next three months,” he noted.
According to Sedic deputy director-general Mano Verabathran, approximately 20,000 Indian Malaysians earning under RM1,500 a month have already been registered as 'IB40' (Indian bottom 40 percent).
He added that Sedic is in the process of identifying the remaining 80,000, which is expected to be completed by July.
A Annjela, 60, a retired security officer from Hospital Sungai Buloh, said she registered as IB40 with Sedic since she is suffering from asthma and is unable to work.
Already having to spend nearly RM300 a month, she said that the RM80 would help with the grocery bills.
M Thulasimalar, a 36-year-old mother of three from Lembah Subang, who works as a supervisor in a mall, said the handout would help for rainy days.
The MIB, which was launched by caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak in April last year, is also aimed at increasing the educational levels of the Indian Malaysian community, as well as provide them with more job opportunities.
RM80 to betray an entire section of the population. MIC have not only betrayed a race but have stolen their dignity, devalued them in their own eyes and those of other Malaysians. The Indians are in their current miserable state because of betrayals by successive leaders of the MIC. One group after another of this bunch of gangsters with garlands around their podgy, overfed necks emasculated the community, held them captive to paltry handouts so that they could trade with the power brokers and steal what belonged to the community. With RM80 handouts, they are up to the same old devices to stay in power. A pencil that will put the X in the right place will rid our community and this nation of this pestilence of leaders that has afflicted us these 7 decades. My fellow Indians, take the RM80 but put the X where it matters.
If the government is fair to Indians, they will not need this RM80. Many Indians will vote away their future for RM80.
Before NEP in 1970's INDIANS fared better THAN Malays. Than wirh NEP they made Indians with begging bowl .and now rm80 a month. MIC you sold us Indians to aparthei umno who are THIEVES 1mdb and snatchthieves.
