'Don't question EC's credibility, they don't write election laws'
GE14 | The Election Commission should be accorded the highest level of credibility in the implementation of the laws and regulations pertaining to general elections, said caretaker deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said the EC was merely enforcing the laws and regulations which had been debated and approved in Parliament by the MPs who were the policymakers and legislators.
“How could the EC be planning to allow the existing government to continue to be in power as the BN has not been in power in Kelantan for 28 years, while Penang and Selangor were administered by the opposition, and BN losing in Perak once?
“How could an independent commission favour anyone when there are states in opposition hands? So, its transparency should be accepted by all quarters,” he said.
Zahid, who is also the caretaker home minister, was speaking at a media conference after launching the upgrading of Route FT069 from Simpang Empat, Hutan Melintang, to Bagan Datuk and the FT005 – FT069 Elevated Exchange at Simpang Empat, Hutan Melintang today.
When asked to comment on the fake news circulating on social media about the EC, he said people should dismiss such news because it adhered to the rules and regulations that had been in place for a long time.
He said the EC was not a commission that could be manipulated by those who disputed the execution of the system of democracy in the country.
Zahid, who is defending his Bagan Datuk seat in the 14th general election, said he hoped that the people would not believe news discrediting the EC.

Only a moron can argue in that manner. You have won a certain state and so therefore that the elections must be fair. When opposition won 51% of the votes and BN only won 48% of the votes why does BN have the majority. Anyway not to worry after GE14, all of you including ROS DG and the UMNO DG for EC will all be in prison. All of you better learn how to survive in prison.
"How could the EC be planning to allow the existing government to continue to be in power as the BN has not been in power in Kelantan for 28 years, while Penang and Selangor were administered by the opposition, and BN losing in Perak once?" THIS WAS ALWAYS A STUPID, DESPERATE ARGUMENT. STILL IS. IT IS LIKE SAYING THAT BECAUSE A MAN WITH LEAD WEIGHTS TIED AGAINST HIS WILL TO HIS FEET STILL MANAGED TO STRUGGLE ASHORE [WHILE OTHERS DIDN'T] HE WAS THEREFORE SWIMMING UNDER NO HANDICAP AND THAT HIS LIFE HAD NOT BEEN IMPERILLED IN ANY WAY BY ANY WRONGDOING. COME OFF IT, ZAHID! THIS IS JUST STUPID! NOT WORTHY OF MALAYSIA'S NEXT PM!
observers from third world countries and depriving our very own Human Rights institution is the biggest laugh of century.
