GE14 | PKR's Jenifer Lasimbang is set to contest the Moyog state seat under Parti Warisan Sabah.

This was announced by Warisan president Mohd Shafie Apdal during the announcement of the party's candidates in Kota Kinabalu today.

"It's been agreed by PKR that Jenifer will contest using Warisan's logo," said Shafie.

Shafie told reporters later that the decision was a compromise between PKR and Warisan, as the former had won both Moyog and Penampang in the last general election. 

Met by Malaysiakini later, Lasimbang described the decision to contest using Warisan's logo as a "tactical move".

"This has been properly explained by (Sabah PKR chief) Christina (Liew)," she said, adding that the decision was agreed upon by all parties.

"They have had a lot of discussions (and) came out with the final decision that yes, it's a PKR seat, I am the agreed candidate and I will stand as a Warisan candidate.

Moyog incumbent and Warisan treasurer-general Terrence Siambun (photo) has therefore been dropped from defending the seat.

In the last general election, Siambun contested on a PKR ticket and defeated Lasimbang's brother Philip Benedict Lasimbang with a 1,682 vote-majority.

Another Lasimbang sister, former Suhakam commissioner Jannie Lasimbang, has been fielded by DAP to contest the Kepayan state seat.

Both Moyog and Kepayan are state seats under the Penampang parliamentary constituency.

Meanwhile, former Sabah BN state secretary Karim Bujang, who recently joined Warisan, will take on caretaker foreign minister Anifah Aman in Kimanis.

Asked about what he thought of his chances of winning the seat, Karim said he was confident.

"Do you think if I'm not confident I will want to jump into this? I'm confident," he said.

Karim also denied that there was anything personal in his decision to take on Anifah, when told that the two had personal differences before.

"Not really, I have given Anifah all the support when I was his deputy," said Karim.

Meanwhile, Warisan deputy president Darell Leiking is set to defend the Penampang parliamentary seat, while the party's vice-president Junz Wong has been moved from Likas to Tanjong Aru.

Another vice-president, Peter Anthony, will take on the Melalap seat.

Warisan is set to contest in 17 parliamentary and 45 state seats.
