GE14 | Former PKR assemblyperson Gan Pei Nei will address the allegations contained in a letter of complaint, which has been leaked to the media, after the May 9 general election.
“I will be back! It's not that I didn't want to respond earlier, I was just concerned that it would undermine the momentum for change if the issue continues to spread.
“After listening to the advice given, I have decided to temporarily hold back and keep my focus clear on the general election. I’ll respond to the issue after this with documents and proof,” she added in a Facebook posting.
Most importantly, Gan said, she does not want the issue to affect the greater interest, which is to defeat BN in the polls.
“I hope everyone understands. I have a clear conscience about the whole affair,” she added.
Gan, who won the Rawang state seat in the 2008 and 2013 general elections, was dropped from as a candidate for the coming polls.
On Monday, she told an emotionally-charged press conference that she expected to be struck off the caandidates' list due to the letter, which accused her of misusing the allocation for her constituency.
Gan claimed that the letter originated from within PKR, hinting that some could be eyeing her seat.
She also welcomed the MACC to investigate the issue.
PKR has replaced Gan with its Youth deputy strategy director Chua Wei Kiat.
A straw poll conducted by Malaysiakini found that the switch had agitated her supporters, especially among the Chinese community.
The former MCA fortress of Rawang is a Chinese-majority seat, with a sizable Indian presence.
Not selected as a candidate for one round is not the end of your political road. If you subsequently proved the allegation without foundation and Pakatan is returned in Selangor, you may be given a bigger role to play. But, if as a result of your emotion, Pakatan loses, than you will also lose indirectly. Of course, you can choose to join the winning side but you will always have to be grateful for the party that accepts you and held to ransome should you fail to toe their line.
Anonymous...363345, I agree with you. Gan must be given every opportunity and avenue to explain and defend herself.
