AG: Don't get too excited, abide by law during election period
The Attorney-General's Chambers calls on all parties, candidates and their supporters to always respect and abide by the law during the 14th General Election (GE14) period.
In a statement today, Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali said in their excitement of campaigning and supporting their respective electoral candidates, all parties were urged to ensure they did not take any action which went against the law.
"Specifically provisions under the Penal Code, the Election Offences Act 1954 [Act 5], Sedition Act 1948 [Act 15], Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 [Act 301], Minor Offences Act 1955 [Act 336] Communications And Multimedia Act 1998 [Act 588], Anti-Fake News Act 2018 [Act 803] and others.
"The Attorney-General's Chambers will not compromise, and will take decisive action against anyone who violates any of the provisions of the law, in order to ensure that the GE14 can be carried out in peace and harmony," he said. - Bernama
