GE14 | Nik Omar Nik Aziz's decision to join Amanah has prompted the Islamist party to roll out its big guns.

And its biggest gun of all, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, also opened fire on the son of the late Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, the party's venerated spiritual adviser.

In an open letter addressed to "children of leaders who abandoned their fathers' struggle", Hadi said these children were like his own and urged them to read the Quran instead of Facebook.

The PAS president then cited how Prophet Nuh's (Noah) son had belittled the ark his father had constructed.

"By right, the children of PAS leaders should not be in (Pakatan) Harapan's ark whose captain Dr Mahathr Mohamad punctured BN's ark to an extent it has taken in water and become dangerous.

"Therefore, PAS does not side with either BN or Harapan," he said.

Hadi also claimed that Harapan relied on DAP, which he accused of being "openly anti-Islam". He also claimed the coalition is full of "liberal Muslims" and is led by a leader who flip-flops.

The PAS leader also made an apparent reference to Amanah, likening it to a pawn in a political chess match.

"In the end, they formed a party that is not grounded in Islam and is an insignificant force.

"If they win, they would still be without strength and if they lose, they would be consumed by the waves," he added.

Earlier today, Nik Omar's (photo) brother Nik Abduh also wrote a scathing letter, accusing his sibling of hurting the feelings of their mother.

Nik Omar, who previously considered contesting in the Chempaka state seat in Kelantan changed his mind after failing to receive his mother's blessing.

This was in anticipation that Nik Abduh would also be contesting the seat on a PAS ticket.

However, Nik Abduh was instead fielded in the parliamentary seat of Bachok.

On the eve of nomination day, Amanah had to drop its replacement Chempaka candidate due to a police case and Nik Omar agreed to contest.

Amanah together with Harapan component parties is contesting under the PKR common logo in Peninsular Malaysia.
