BN will ensure premium payment for land meant for development projects in the interests of the people in Selangor, such as fire and rescue stations and schools, is kept at a nominal rate, caretaker housing, urban well-being and local government minister Noh Omar said today.

He said this was to ensure the projects could be carried out promptly without any unnecessary delay.

“The ministry wants to build a fire and rescue station in Setia Alam, but it has been delayed because of the land premium imposed by the state government, which is very high, at RM19 million, although the land is provided by the developer,” he added.

Speaking to reporters after opening the Kapar Fire and Rescue station in Klang, he said a similar case also happened in Bukit Abdul Rahman Putra, Sungai Buloh.

Following an appeal, Noh said, the premium was reduced to RM5 million, which was still high considering the cost of the fire and rescue station project was only RM5 million.

Noh said BN promised to impose a nominal land premium rate on only RM100,000 per acre if the coalition was voted to power in Selangor in GE14.

On the Kapar fire and rescue station, he said, the project cost RM5.69 million and was built to cater for the increasing population in the area which also had many factories and oil palm plantations. - Bernama
