The BN candidate for Kota Raja V Gunalan today questioned how Amanah president Mohamad Sabu could contribute to the constituency when the Pakatan Harapan leader was never seen campaigning in the area.

At a press conference today, he also claimed that since the seat went to the opposition 10 years ago, development in the area has stalled.

Gunalan, who is a MIC central committee member, then took a further swipe at Mohamad Sabu, better known as Mat Sabu, saying he was not from Selangor unlike him.

"I was born in Selangor and am willing to serve the people in Kota Raja as my area is near Dengkil and I am the Sepang MIC division chief.

"However, Mat Sabu has been contesting in Penang, Kedah and Kelantan and now wants to contest in Selangor. I have visited almost all areas in Kota Raja but have never come across Mat Sabu during my campaigning rounds.

"Can you imagine if he wins? He will be holding so many posts including possibly a cabinet position and he will not be able to look after the welfare of the people in Kota Raja," said Gunalan.

Kota Raja has close to 150,000 voters and is a mixed seat with 44 percent of the population Malay and 28 percent each Chinese and Indian.

Gunalan said the people needed a representative who was part of the federal government to bring development and if elected he would help ensure better roads and infrastructure including the construction of a new hospital to meet the needs of the constituency.

"The hospital can be in Kota Kemuning and I also hope to bring an Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) to the constituency," he said.

When asked, Gunalan said he did not think his main challenge would come from PAS' Mohamad Diah Baharun in the three-way contest.
