GE14 | Selangor BN chief Noh Omar said he is not surprised by the stand taken by former finance minister Daim Zainuddin and minister of international trade and industry Rafidah Aziz, both of whom have called on the people to vote for Pakatan Harapan.
Noh, who is also incumbent Tanjong Karang MP, said their statements would not affect BN's chances of winning the 14th general election.
"I am not surprised with Daim, as where there is (Harapan chairperson Dr) Mahathir Mohamad, there will be Daim.
"Way back when Mahathir was leading, we know he was close to Anwar (Ibrahim), Rafidah and Sanusi (Junid).
"Come on, my brother and sister (referring to Daim and Rafidah), when you leave the government, you should let the others who inherit it continue administering the country without interference, " he said.
Noh, however, refused to comment on whether the two should be sacked from Umno.
Yesterday it was reported that Daim has declared his open support for Harapan, while Rafidah, a long-time Umno Wanita leader, has also called on the people to vote for the opposition.
When asked about Selangor BN's chances of recapturing the state, Noh said that it was good, based on feedback he had obtained after campaigning.
"We are quite confident of recapturing the state," he said.
Noh who is also the caretaker housing, local government and urban wellbeing minister, was met on the sidelines of caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's visit to Puncak Alam within the Kuala Selangor parliamentary constituency.
