The fate of MCA Wanita Deputy Chief Chew Mei Fun, who allegedly breached the party's code of ethics, was still unknown after an internal party hearing today.

The party's disciplinary board headed by MCA deputy president Chan Kong Choy ( right ) was tight-lipped over the decision made on her.

Asked if the board has made decision on Chew' case, Chan would only answered with a smile: "I won't tell you."

At a press conference after the four-hour long disciplinary proceeding held at the MCA headquarters this afternoon, he said the hearings went smoothly with eight cases being heard.

He said the disciplinary board would make its recommendations at the party's next presidential committee meeting where a final decision would be made. A date for the meeting has yet to be fixed, he said.

All the eight cases heard today were related to charges of allegedly breaching the party's code of ethics during the run-up to the party's elections held in August.

Year's suspension

Chew is accused of divulging the minutes of a Selangor Wanita meeting on June 12 which discussed the suspension of its former state chief, Dr Tan Yee Kew.

It was reported that Chew ( left ) held a press conference a day after the meeting, expressing her dissatisfaction with a few leaders who defended Tan and asked for a postponement of her suspension.

Tan was suspended for one year from June 7 after being found guilty of breaching the party's disciplinary code. Although her suspension was later reduced to six months later, she was still barred from contesting in the party's elections.

Chew, who is seen as a protege of the Wanita chief Dr Ng Yen Yen, was elected the new deputy in the August elections.
