GE14 | Tuan Sabariah Tuan Ishak, mother of Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz, has begun campaigning against her son in the state seat of Chempaka in Kelantan.

This was after Nik Omar, who is the eldest son of the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Omar, decided to contest in Chempaka under Pakatan Harapan against his mother's wishes.

In Kota Bharu today, Tuan Sabariah endorsed the PAS candidate for the state seat of Chempaka, Ahmad Fathan Mahmood, against her son.

Tuan Sabariah said she held on to her late husband advice that there was no better party than PAS.

"I did not come here to give a ceramah but was asked to speak... I'm not used to it as I normally only do the talking at home.

"The election is coming and I feel it is best to retain what Tok Guru (Nik Abdul Aziz) has left for us," she said.

Tuan Sabariah, in an apparent reference to Amanah, said there were many parties now claiming themselves to be "Islamic".

"Recently, people say my family has split. I have 10 children, only one has gone to a different direction," she said.

The contest in Chempaka will be between Nik Omar, Ahmad Fathan and BN's Ahmad Fareez Nor Amran.

Nik Omar's brother Nik Abduh is contesting in the parliamentary seat of Bachok in Kelantan.

Nik Omar had cancelled his events in Bachok, stating that he did not want to campaign against his own brother and bid him all the best.
