GE14 | Having passed the midway mark to polling day on May 9, Pakatan Harapan chairperson and Langkawi parliament seat contender Dr Mahathir Mohamad is not ready to stop campaigning anytime soon.
"In Kuantan, I spoke for one hour...before I used to speak for one hour because I was young," said Mahathir during a joint press conference with Bersatu youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman at the Perdana Leadership Foundation in Putrajaya today.
"Now I'm old I can still speak for one hour. I would like to find any other 93-year-old who is willing to speak for one hour," said Mahathir.
Occasionally, he would pause to cough and have a drink of water.
Asked about his health, Mahathir laughed and said his cough would strangely stop whenever he was campaigning on stages nationwide.
Although admitting that being on the campaign trail has taken a toll on his health, Mahathir appeared to still have his sharp wit.
"It is very tiring but still I survived. I can even answer your questions. Can you imagine that?" he quipped.
When asked to clarify his exact age, Mahathir said, "I would be 93 on July 10. Please attend my birthday."
