GE14 | Mohamad Sabu will be taking legal action against the "mystery man" who, yesterday, released materials and claimed to possess video proof implicating the Amanah president in a sex scandal.

The party, too, announced it will be taking action against the man, Rizal Bakar, who claimed to be from Kuala Kedah Amanah division, as well as two others who had accompanied him during his press conference yesterday, for impersonating Amanah members.

Amanah was responding to allegations made by a Rizal Bakar in a press conference yesterday during which the latter produced screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation and two audio recordings of a telephone conversation which he alleged indicated Mohamad was involved in an illicit relationship with a woman.

Rizal, however, refused to furnish proof to back up his claim but said he would release a supposed "sex video" if the party leadership did not respond within 36 hours.

When asked during a press conference at Amanah headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today, Amanah deputy secretary-general Ahmad Kerdee Abang Masagus denied the man in the screenshot and audio clips was Mohamad.

Instead, he deemed the allegations against Mohamad, who is more popularly known as Mat Sabu, as slander and said such "dirty politics" are to be expected when the general elections are near.

Furthermore, Ahmad Kerdee said checks with their member database failed to find any such person.

He said while they found that there was a member called Rizal Bakar, he was not a member in Kedah but Selangor and not the same individual that appeared yesterday.

"We also checked with Kuala Kedah Amanah and no one knew the individual.

"(Our division) in Selangor also contacted this Rizal Bakar and he stated he was not the man in yesterday's press conference," Ahmad Kerdee told the press.

When asked if this denial came from Mat Sabu himself, Ahmad Kerdee said he was representing the party today and that the former was focussed on campaigning for the 14th general election to take place on Wednesday.
