GE14 | Kelantan Pakatan Harapan chairperson Husam Musa has revealed that PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah once rejected fielding either of the late spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat’s sons in the 2015 Chempaka by-election upon his passing.

According to Husam, the decision to reject the candidacies of Nik Omar and Nik Abduh was made as Mohd Amar had felt that PAS members in Pengkalan Chepa were turning against Nik Aziz.

He also claimed that that was the reason Nik Abduh, the younger of the two, lost in the PAS committee elections there.

Chempaka is a state seat within the Pengkalan Chepa parliamentary constituency.

Nik Aziz, more fondly known as Tok Guru, had been its assemblyperson for five terms from 1995 until his death in 2015.

"When Nik Aziz died, we proposed Nik Omar as the candidate for the Chempaka state seat.

"But that was rejected as people (PAS) in Pengkalan Chepa were anti-Tok Guru Nik Aziz from early on," Husam told the press after a ceramah at Kampung Dusun Muda in Kota Bharu today.

Husam, who is Pakatan Harapan's candidate for the Salor state seat and the Kota Bahru parliamentary seat said the matter of Nik Abduh's candidacy was also discussed.

That proposal, however, was turned down on the grounds Nik Abduh already had the Pasir Mas parliamentary seat.

"Hence, I advise Mohd Amar not to lie in order to avoid more such things from being divulged," he said.

Mohd Amar (photo), who is also Kelantan PAS deputy commissioner, had slammed Husam's previous statement blaming PAS for not affording Nik Omar a chance to stand in Pengkalan Chepa.

He had accused Husam of ignorance of PAS' practices, as he claimed the latter was one of those involved in candidate selection and had himself rejected Nik Omar.

"However, all these things are brought back up and PAS is blamed," he said.

Nik Omar will be contesting the Chempaka seat under PAS splinter party Amanah in the 14th general election.

Nik Abduh, meanwhile, is PAS' candidate for the Bachok parliamentary seat.
