GE14 | BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak has revealed that he has been indulging in a new bedtime hobby – watching video clips of his opponents on YouTube.

At a campaign stop at Kuala Berang, Terengganu today, Najib said this ritual allowed him to observe how he was being attacked by his opponents.

"Nowadays, at night, my hobby before sleeping is watching YouTube. This is the social media era. Before I sleep I will watch YouTube. I want to see what they are saying about us.

"They say a lot of things. They criticise me. I watch it on YouTube," he said.

Najib pointed to a particular video clip showing Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad sitting next to his comrades Mohamad Sabu and Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

He then cited how Mahathir had often refuted allegations of jailing political opponents, although the most number of people were detained under the Internal Security Act 1960 during the latter's 22-year rule.

"I watched this video clip of a press conference by Mahathir. Sitting next to him was Mohamad.

"(Mahathir) can coolly say 'In my time, I didn't lock up anyone'. Hey! Mat Sabu is sitting next to him. He was arrested under ISA.

"On his right was Wan Azizah. Her husband was arrested under ISA. Then there was that black eye, which is now their party symbol," he said.

Najib reminded the Kuala Berang audience that even his own deputy – Ahmad Zahid Hamidi – was once a victim of ISA.

"(Mahathir) can say I am more cruel... Who have I detained? No one. That is because there is no more ISA. When I became prime minister, I abolished ISA," he said.

Kuala Berang is a state constituency and a town near Kenyir Lake, which is part of the Hulu Terengganu parliamentary constituency.
