Dr M apologises

Pakatan Harapan leader Dr Mahathir Mohamad has apologised for disparaging remarks, which he used to describe civilians who died during the Memali incident, but insisted that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang was culpable for those deaths.

Hadi said he and his party accepted the apology while insisting that the 14 civilians who died were martyrs.

Mahathir and his two former lieutenants Daim Zainuddin and Rafidah Aziz drew a bumper crowd at a rally in Malacca last night.

Najib warns against upsetting China

Should Malaysia cancel the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, China would likely respond by barring its tourists from Malaysia and stop importing Malaysian palm oil, warned BN leader Najib Abdul Razak.

Speaking in Terengganu, Najib described the PAS administration of the state from 1999 to 2004 as a "nightmare" and urged voters not to allow it to recur.

Najib also issued a message for advance voters, who will be casting their ballots today, that "hope" lies with BN because they coalition's policies had benefitted civil servants.

Meanwhile, Najib also revealed that he has recently been watching YouTube clips every night to study what his opponents have been saying about him.

A survey by Selangor government-owned Institute Darul Ehsan predicted that Pakatan Harapan will win the Selangor elections, but BN will make gains due to multi-cornered contests.

The chiefs of police chief and navy both urged their personnel to vote freely and assured them that their choice was a secret.
