1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy has invited Country Heights Holdings Bhd founder Lee Kim Yew to attend one of the two remaining question and answer sessions regarding the firm.

“I hereby humbly and with an open heart, invite Lee to attend either of the remaining two Information and Q&A sessions on 1MDB,” he said in a text message to Malaysiakini this evening.

Arul also provided details of the two upcoming sessions:

- May 7 at Pondok KRT, Taman Lucky in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. The session starts at 8.15pm.

- May 8 at Tapak Pasar Malam, Jalan SS8/39, Sungei Way, Petaling Jaya, from 8pm to midnight. This session will also feature Ministry of Finance communications director Lokman Noor Adam.

Arul was responding to a Malaysiakini interview with Lee, where he called on the government, which is to be formed after the May 9 general election, to resolve the 1MDB fiasco.

Lee is a known close associate of Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who has accused caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak of embezzling 1MDB funds.

Najib, however, has denied the accusation and claimed that Mahathir was using this issue to topple him from power for his own political agenda.

Meanwhile, Arul has been crisscrossing the nation to explain the 1MDB issue.

The CEO has also blamed the opposition for allegedly twisting facts in order to turn 1MDB into political fodder.

The 1MDB saga has also witnessed investigations and court actions in several countries while the US Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed several civil forfeiture suits on the matter.
