GE14 | Caretaker Terengganu menteri besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman has promised that the state will implement hudud if BN wins in the May 9 general election.

"God willing, the Terenganu government has no problem with it.

"When we succeed (in the general election) later, god willing, we will implement hudud on Terengganu soil," he told students at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin in Kuala Terengganu this evening.

Razif is defending his state seat of Seberang Takir against PAS' Mohd Faizal Wahab and PKR's Abu Bakar Abdullah.

With Terengganu being Harapan's weakest link, PAS is the main challenger against BN.

Hudud has been a key agenda for PAS but was worded in more general terms in its manifesto. This was questioned by Razif. 

"We question those who were so set on hudud but didn't include it in their manifesto.

"What is odd is that they used to campaign for an Islamic state, then a welfare state, and now a harmonious state (negara sejahtera). So there is no consistency," he said.

According to Razif, hudud is part and parcel of the history of his constituency.

He added that Terengganu can become a model for other states.
