GE14 | Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong has never applied for an Australian PR, according to his political secretary Ivanpal Singh Grewal.

He said the Teluk Intan incumbent lawmaker has also filed a police report against his opponent Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming on the matter.

“This allegation is false, Mah has never applied for PR from Australia or any other country at any point in time in his life.

“This is an attempt by Nga to tarnish his reputation. Mah has made a police report this morning over the false allegation,” he added.

Earlier, Nga had demanded Mah to declare in the next 24 hours if he had applied for an Australian PR.

“The people will be voting in 48 hours. It is only fair to the voters to know if the candidate they choose will be loyal to the king and country,” he added.

Nga also pointed out that all MPs must take an oath in the Dewan Rakyat to be loyal to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and country as well as to defend the Federal Constitution.

“If a candidate has applied for a PR in a foreign country, then it is fair for the voters to dispute whether the candidate's loyalty lies with this nation.

“I do not wish to make any allegations but am giving an opportunity to Mah to make an open declaration in the next 24 hours so that the people of Teluk Intan can know the truth,” he added.

Mah won the Teluk Intan seat in a by-election in 2014 with a razor-thin majority against DAP newcomer Dyana Sofea Mohd Daud.

Teluk Intan has a diverse mix of races, with 42% Chinese voters, Malays (38%), Indians (19%) and 1% others. There are 61,004 voters registered in Teluk Intan, compared to 60,483 in the last general election.
