GE14 | Caretaker Terengganu menteri besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman insists that he did not say the state would implement hudud, only that it was prepared to do so.

According to The Star Online, Razif had only expressed Umno’s readiness to adopt hudud, provided it gets the consensus of all BN component parties.

"I did not mean we would implement hudud. What I meant was we are prepared, but we need to consider other component parties under BN," he was quoted as saying.

Razif further stressed that it was not within his power to implement hudud in the state, noting that the decision was BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak’s to make.

The Terengganu BN chief also claimed that his statement on the issue had been used to cause a rift between Muslims and non-Muslims in the state.

However, Razif is shown in a video uploaded onto the Terengganu News TV YouTube page saying that the state would implement hudud if BN wins in the May 9 general election.

"God willing, the Terengganu government has no problem with it.

"When we succeed (in the general election) later, God willing, we will implement hudud on Terengganu soil," he said in a speech to in Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin students yesterday.
