GE14 | CIMB chairperson Nazir Razak has urged leaders on both sides of the political divide to heal the nation after tomorrow's general election.

“There has been so much divisive rhetoric, emotions will inevitably run high.

“After tomorrow leaders on all sides and our institutions must bring us together again as one people,” he added in an Instagram posting.

Nazir, who is the brother of caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, also called on all registered voters to cast their ballots.

“Tomorrow we vote for the future of Malaysia. Everyone must vote, our institutions must ensure the integrity of the ballot process and then we must accept the results.

“Winners must not take everything and losers must not lose everything - that is fundamental for democracy to function,” he added.

Nazir's posting also featured a photograph with a quote from author Larry J Saboto, who wrote Pendulum Swing, which reads: “Every election is determined by the people who show up.”

On Monday, Star Online reported that Nazir and AirAsia chief executive officer Tony Fernandes went on a road trip as part of their general election fever.

Nazir had also posted a montage of images from the road trip on Instagram.

“GE14 Roadtrip across Kuala Selangor-Sekinchan-Kapar. Between nasi lemak, milo’s, kikapoo’s we met some wonderful Malaysians,” read the caption.

Yesterday, Fernandes had commended the Najib administration for putting the people first and urged voters to cast their ballots based on facts as opposed to hearsay.

Najib also returned to Kuala Lumpur yesterday following his two-day visit to Sabah in an AirAsia aircraft emblazoned with the BN election slogan “Hebatkan Negaraku” (Make my country greater).
