GE14 | Selangor PAS in its final prediction before polling day tomorrow has indicated its confidence to take over the state's administration from Pakatan Harapan.

Selangor PAS election director Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir told a press conference at its headquarters in Shah Alam today that the party through its Gagasan Sejahtera pact could win at least eight more new seats - five of which are from PKR - on top of retaining its 15 incumbents.

In order to form a new state government, PAS needs to win at least 29 out of 56 seats in the Selangor legislative assembly.

Roslan identified the five PKR-held seats as Kota Anggerik, Sementa, Batu Tiga, Ijok and Sungai Tua while the remaining are two from DAP - Sungai Pelek, Kuala Kubu Baharu - and one from Umno, Sungai Burong.

"Through the feedback we received from our campaign machinery so far, PAS is confident to retain all seats won in the last 13th general elections, on top of capturing at least eight new seats.

"With our strength, PAS is confident that if there is a big wave for change tomorrow, we will have enough seats to form the new state-government, InsyaAllah," Roslan said.

He added that state PAS has witnessed an overwhelming acceptance among non-Malay voters towards Gagasan Sejahtera's candidates.

"This is in total contradiction of views by certain analysts that PAS would be totally rejected by non-Malay voters," said Roslan who attributed the development to efforts of its Selat Kelang candidate, Dr Halimah Mohd Ali over the past two years, through PAS' "Project Non-Malay".

Halimah, who was also present during the press conference, said the party in its campaigns among non-Malay voters had convinced them of how the party was founded to fight for rights and interests of Muslims, without abandoning its responsibilities to uphold justice for all Malaysians.

"PAS has no issues with differences in languages, cultures or even religions. PAS also have no issues with various types of schools be it SJKC, SJKT, Sekolah Agama Rakyat or others.

"Every parents have got their rights as per the Malaysian constitution. Stand by me and I will stand up for you," she stressed.

Among Gagasan Sejahtera's non-Malay candidates in Selangor included former DAP man Santokh Singh who was fielded to contest the Pandamaran state seat.

Santokh said he had loss faith in the party he joined in 2008, claiming that its current batch of leaders has failed to uphold the party's principles.

In GE13, PAS as a member of the former Pakatan Rakyat federal opposition pact contested in 21 seats and won 15.

This time around, PAS and its ally Ikatan will be contesting in 51 seats, while BN and Harapan are fielding their candidates in all 56 state seats.
