GE14 | Some four hours after voting for the general election began, three police reports were lodged over alleged electoral discrepancies.

The reports were lodged over claims of marked ballot papers and a voter who claimed his name had been "used" by an unknown individual.

In Penang, voter Goh Por Cheong said he was informed by an Election Commission officer that he had already cast his ballot, even though he had not done so.

Goh, who was queuing to vote at SRJK (C) Kong Min Pusat in Air Itam from 8.30am, said he suspected his name has been used by another person.

"I discovered that my name has been struck out off the list by an EC officer, who told me that I have already voted.

"But I have not voted and I was waiting in line. I suspect my name has been used by another person," Goh stated in the police report sighted by Malaysiakini.

Meanwhile, two police reports were lodged in Batu by voters Mohmad Shahrul Razali and Mohd Faizal Anuar - who discovered that their ballot papers had a 'dot' in the box for the BN's candidates.

According to their police report, the 'dot' was placed above the letter 'H' in the BN candidate's name Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai.

They also claimed a request for new ballot papers from the polling centre chief further revealed that the same 'dot' could be seen on the same spot on all ballot papers.

"Because of that no new ballot papers can be issued and I was told to continue with the voting process.

"I alerted the polling agent and I was instructed to lodge a police report," said Mohd Shahrul.

In Shah Alam, voter Nurfariza reported another case of an unknown individual who allegedly used her identity to vote for the parliament seat and the Batu Tiga state seat.

According to her police report lodged at the Taman Sri Muda police station, Nurfariza said she was in the queue to vote at SMK Seksyen 18 Shah Alam around 12.30pm.

Upon the polling officer checking her identification card, Nurfariza said, she was informed that her name has been struck off the list of eligible voters.

In Damansara, Harapan Petaling Jaya candidate Maria Chin Abdullah was approached by a voter, Loke Wai Loon, who told her that his mother was prevented from voting at SMK Tropicana here this afternoon.

"We came and got the slip at around 3pm.

"When my mother was in the queue and later went to vote, the EC officer told her that her name was already crossed from the list," said Loke in reference to his mother, 60-year-old Chai Kim Len.

Loke said his mother had in GE13 cast her vote at the same school without any problems.

Maria, who earlier cast her vote at the school, urged Loke to lodge a police report on the matter.
