GE14 | PAS has gained new ground and this was proof that the Kelantanese were against the approach adopted by Pakatan Harapan, said Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob.

Last night, PAS secured 36 seats in the 45 seat state assembly, up five from 2013, while BN secured eight seats, down from 11. Harapan did not win a single seat.

PAS managed to maintain its hold of nine parliamentary seats in Kelantan.

Ahmad said that the results showed that Harapan cannot threaten PAS in Kelantan.

"They failed to win a single seat because their approach was not suitable in Kelantan, unlike the West Coast," he told a press conference in Kota Bharu today.

Ahmad said PAS did better this time around, thanks to young and out of state voters who wanted to maintain the current administration.

"We thank them for their support. We thank all our vote canvassers. We did well," he said, pointing out that PAS scored large majorities in many seats.
