The Pakatan Harapan presidential council is holding its first meeting after Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad was sworn in yesterday.

They are meeting at Yayasan Albukhary in Kuala Lumpur today, which a number of cars have been spotted entering since 10am.

The meeting is expected to discuss the new cabinet line-up.

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution told reporters waiting outside that he did not know what the specific agenda of the meeting was, but later clarified that it was to discuss the “next phase” of the government.

He also said the meeting is only for the top five leaders in Harapan, namely Mahathir and the four presidents of its component parties.

However, he noted that Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin is in Johor right now to have an audience with the sultan.

The inspector-general of police (IGP) Mohamad Fuzi Harun was also spotted entering the building in a car at 10.30am.

However, Mahathir later clarified that it was “not a cabinet meeting”.

He then said that the council had set up 10 ministries and would announce the ministers for these ministries tomorrow.

They will strive for equal representation for the four component parties in Harapan in the cabinet, he said.
