Penang’s chief minister, whose name is yet to be revealed, will be sworn in on Monday morning at Seri Mutiara, the Penang governor’s residence.

State secretary Farizan Darus said that only one reporter and one photographer from each media company will be allowed to cover the swearing-in ceremony, which is scheduled to take place at 10am.

Men are required to wear long-sleeved black suit and a songkok for Muslims, while women are required black long suits, baju kurung or kebaya with a headscarf or tudung, for Muslims.

"Those who do not comply with this attire will not be allowed in," said Farizan.

Caretaker chief minister Lim Guan Eng will most likely assume the chief minister post for his third consecutive term, having successfully defended his Air Putih state seat in the 14th general election. 

The DAP secretary-general is currently in Kuala Lumpur with newly minted prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to set up the new Pakatan Harapan federal government.

When asked today if Lim would be appointed as Penang chief minister for a third term if he takes on a federal position, Penang DAP chairperson Chow Kon Yeow said, "Wait for the federal announcement".

In 2016, Lim had announced that Chow would replace him as chief minister if he (Lim) goes to jail over graft charges brought by MACC against him.

It is uncertain how Lim's case will proceed, as Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has announced that the federal government would be looking into the conduct of the MACC.

Lim's case, which was heard at the Penang High Court in March, is supposed to resume on May 26.
