Perlis mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin has advised the new coalition government to resolve their matters without annoying the rakyat.

"As a Malaysian citizen, I would like to humbly give my opinion to the parties within the new government to resolve their problems in an organised manner and without causing annoyance to the rakyat," he said in a statement today.

The rakyat had sacrificed to create a new government who could bring back a good administration, he said.

But what was their sacrifice for, he asked, if they are suddenly greeted with such "uncomfortable" news that would erode their confidence.

"This is not that smart a move. This is not what is hoped for by the rakyat," Asri said.

A new process such as this will require determination, intelligence and patience, he advised.

Yesterday Rafizi had accused Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad of "bulldozing" through with three cabinet appointments - namely the defence, finance and home affairs ministers - without consulting PKR.

He quickly came under heavy criticism for his remarks, though there were those who came to his defence as well.

Former Umno minister Rais Yatim advised people not to take Rafizi's words lightly as he has sacrificed so much for Harapan's fight.

Meanwhile, Subang MP Wong Chen said Rafizi spoke up because he did not want to see Mahathir's government start off on the wrong foot.

Mahathir had announced yesterday afternoon the names of three ministers in his cabinet, that is DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng as the finance minister, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu as the defence minister and Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin as the home affairs minister.
