PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has assured supporters that the reform agenda will not be derailed by "suspicious characters".

"People are concerned that the reform agenda might not go through but I have seen at least in the last week there is a strong commitment.

"It is not about the personalities involved, (how) some suspicious character with a lot of baggage (are) involved.

"They don't decide (the agenda), we will make sure this reform agenda is not derailed," Anwar said during a press conference at his home in Kuala Lumpur today.

Anwar did not elaborate who these suspicious characters were.

He also said many in PKR had questioned why certain people were allowed to say "this and that".

"I say 'we are not Umno!' We have to allow some differences in opinion.

"I disagree with many of them but we work together. When it comes to the crunch, we are committed to the central issue."

He said this when asked if there were attempts to block him from being prime minister.

Anwar started off his answer by saying that "this is politics", and that in a democracy, he can't be completely sure about getting full support.

Pakatan Harapan has assured that Anwar will be the country's eighth prime minister, taking over from current premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Anwar, however, said there was no timeline for this transition and that there is no hurry to do so.
