The new Muar MP Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman has pleaded with the public to stop gossiping about his personal life.

In a Twitter post today, Syed Saddiq said that he didn't join politics to become a celebrity.

"Please focus on my pledges for youths, affordable housing, high-speed Internet, education loans and Muar's development plans.

"Please. Gossip won't resolve problems faced by the youths. #YouthPower," he tweeted.

Syed Saddiq, 25, has amassed a legion of young female fans since embarking on his political career.

One local radio station even produced a social media "fact sheet" about Syed Saddiq which listed him as single, stated his holiday preferences, his penchant for cooking and his video game habits.
