PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim tonight said that he does not wish for anyone else to have gone through his experiences of being charged and convicted without going through due processes under the law.

Speaking to some 500 supporters who attended a breaking fast session at his house in Segambut here, Anwar said this was despite his personal belief that there is enough evidence to charge former premier Najib Abdul Razak.

"Can we direct the judges? No.

"If we went through that process, don't let it happen to anyone else," said Anwar.

"Do I believe there is enough grounds to charge Najib? I do believe...But it must follow due process, there must be a strong prima facie case," said Anwar who called on Pakatan Harapan supporters to uphold the rule of law and not be blinded by their anger towards Najib.

In light of the spirit of Ramadhan, Anwar also urged his supporters to be grateful to Allah SWT by following His words, including to not harbour vengeance against any persons.

Anwar's comments tonight came one day after police launched a marathon raid on Najib's house in Jln Langgak Duta, and is still ongoing until now.

Anwar's daughter, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah, had earlier condemned the overnight police raid, as she recounted her own experiences during the time of her father's arrest.

“As former victims of early dawn police raids, I must stress my disagreement in ransacking any home at such an ungodly hour," said Nurul Izzah.

Anwar, meanwhile, said he had conveyed the same message to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, on the need to uphold the rule of law, during their meeting earlier today.

"Our anger, our gate, don't let it be the reason for us to stray from the rule of law.

"Our country has laws and our struggle is to uphold the rule of law, not the rule of the jungle," said Anwar.

Mahathir had earlier today denied police high-handedness in the matter, saying the raid followed the police's standard operating procedures and he had no intention for the police to "torture" anyone.
