Robert Kuok is expected to arrive in Malaysia next week to meet with the other members of the Council of Eminent Persons, said council spokesperson A Kadir Jasin.
Kadir told Malaysiakini, however, that no exact date has been set for the arrival of the Hong Kong-based tycoon.
"He's planning to come but you know, he's not very well and he's a very old man also.
"The way I heard it, he's planning to come sometime next week. No exact date specified," he said.
The nonagenarian was named among the five eminent persons as advisors to the government on May 12 by prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The other members of the council are former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former Petronas president Mohd Hassan Merican, and economist Jomo Kwame Sundaram.
The council has thus far announced the setting up of two committees on institutional reforms and 1MDB.
