Billionaire Robert Kuok (above)  today attended the Council of Eminent Persons meeting in Kuala Lumpur in person for the first time.

Based on a photo tweeted by the national news agency Bernama, the 94-year-old Kuok was seen chairing a meeting while seated alongside council chairperson Daim Zainuddin.

“Business figure Robert Kuok attends the Council of Eminent Persons meeting in the capital today,” Bernama tweeted at 11.06 am.

Earlier, council members economist Jomo Kwame Sundaram, former Petronas president Mohd Hassan Merican and former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz arrived at Menara Ilham for the meeting. 

This is the first time since the council’s formation on May 12 that all five council members are meeting in person. 

Among those the council is scheduled to meet with today are Employees Provident Fund (EPF) chief executive officer Shahril Ridza Ridzuan and Khazanah Nasional managing director Wira Azman Mokhtar.

The council will also meet with government representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs Ministry as well as the Economic Planning Unit (EPU).

At 11.50 am, Customs director-general T Subromaniam was seen arriving at Menara Ilham.
