Muhyiddin advises MACC chief to lodge report over threat to life

Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today advised the new MACC chief Mohd Shukri Abdull to lodge a police report over what the latter claimed to be threats he had received while investigating the 1MDB case.

He said action could only be taken if there was a police report and a prima facie case was established after an investigation.

“If there is a report that he was threatened, the police will have to investigate, establish the facts and submit the outcome of the probe.

“That’s the standard operating procedure and, if there is a prima facie case, action will be taken,” he said at a press conference after signing in for work on his first day at the ministry in Putrajaya.

Muhyiddin was commenting on Shukri’s claim that he had to leave the country because he felt that his life was under threat when he led an investigation into an alleged financial scandal related to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of 1MDB, three years ago.
