PSM leader S Arutchelvan added a socialist twist to a photograph depicting billionaire Robert Kuok and former finance minister Daim Zainuddin about to embrace.

“When two capitalists meet...I wonder what (did) they discuss?

“How to raise wages for the rakyat? How to increase public healthcare?” he added in a Facebook posting this evening.

When a commentator pointed out that Kuok did nothing wrong and amassed his wealth himself, Arul roped in former premier Najib Abdul Razak into the debate.

“That was exactly what Najib said about his wealth,” he added.

This prompted another commentator to chip in on how Kuok was a close friend of Tunku Abdul Rahman and was given a monopoly over flour and sugar back then.

Kuok, who is based in Hong Kong, was in Kuala Lumpur to attend the Council of Eminent Persons' meeting for the first time.

Daim, who is a former finance minister, is also a member of the council.

Apart from the two, the others in the council are former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former Petronas president Hassan Merican and economist KS Jomo.

Speaking to reporters this evening, Kuok called on Malaysians to have faith in the members of the council, whom he said comprised “fine people”.
