Fuel prices at the pump will remain the same despite the market price now being above US$70 per barrel, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today.

"Pump price remains the same. We will not raise the price," he said at his first post-cabinet press conference in Putrajaya today.

Fuel prices under former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, had been on a weekly float system, following the abolishment of subsidies.

It had, however, remained unchanged since March 22.

Meanwhile, Mahathir said the abolishment of the goods and services tax can be at any time.

"This is up to the Finance Ministry as long as it is by June 1.

"On tolls and so on, we will manage it according to the Pakatan Harapan manifesto," he added.
