PAS has distanced itself from Wan Zainuddin Wan Musa's criticism of MACC boss Mohd Shukry Abdull's tell-all press conference on his role in investigations against former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.

In a statement today, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said only the party president, deputy president and himself are allowed to issue statements on behalf of the party.

"(We disavow) a particular statement by published by the media by a 'PAS lawyer' titled 'MACC's statement is prejudicial to Najib'.

"The statement has nothing to do with, or represents PAS. It was made by an individual," Takiyuddin said.

Yesterday, Wan Zainuddin said on his Facebook page that Shukry's statement to the press yesterday was prejudicial to Najib, who is being investigated by various authorities.

"It should not have been issued on the same day Najib was called to be questioned by MACC.

"These remarks should not have been said openly because it would create the perception that there was political interference in the case before this," Wan Zainuddin said.

Shukry had claimed that the authorities encountered many hurdles during the course of their investigation on SRC International and the RM2.6 billion "donation" received by Najib.

Meanwhile, Takiyuddin said PAS welcomed the federal government's decision to establish a committee on 1MDB headed by Abu Talib Othman.

He said PAS hoped that the committee would summarise its findings for the public and bring all wrongdoers to justice.

Last August, PAS courted flak after it claimed that it was "satisfied" with 1MDB boss Arul Kanda Kandasamy's explanation on the company's rationalisation plan.
