Kelantan PAS will be organising an official visit soon to meet with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to continue existing ties between the state government and Putrajaya in the interest of the people.

Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob said his government was now waiting for the right time to inform Mahathir of their intention to meet.

“Yes, we are waiting for the right time to meet with the prime minister,” Ahmad said during a press conference after chairing Kelantan's first exco meeting following PAS' retention of the state in the 14th general election.

He said that during the planned visit, they intended to discuss issues surrounding Pakatan Harapan’s promise in its GE14 manifesto to award a 20 percent royalty payment to all oil-producing states including Kelantan.

“If they (Harapan) gives (the 20 percent royalty), we will accept. But more important, we still want the five percent royalty which we have demanded since the previous agreement.

“The previous (BN) federal government failed to fulfil our demand, but we hope that under the new Harapan government, the five percent oil royalty payment will be realised,” he said.

He added that the Kelantan government would also remain open to fostering ties with Putrajaya while waiting for its policies to be unveiled, particularly those involving the National Land Council and local councils.
