Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today dismissed a rumour that her daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar would be getting married to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V.

“Astagfirullahaladzim. Do not believe rumours,” said Dr Wan Azizah, who is also Women, Family and Community Development Minister, as she reacted with shock upon being questioned by reporters after she had visited the Rumah Ehsan old folks home in Kuala Kubu Bharu.

A message had been making the rounds in social media that Nurul Izzah, a PKR vice-president and MP for Permatang Pauh, was getting married to the King.

The rumour could have started after Wan Azizah and her husband, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, had an audience with the King’s mother, Tengku Anis Tengku Abdul Hamid, at Istana Mahkota,  Kubang Kerian, in Kota Bharu last Thursday.

It was the maiden visit of Wan Azizah, the PKR president, to Kelantan after having been sworn in as the deputy prime minister.
