It is up to the 1MDB task force to take action against former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said today.

“I leave that to the authorities which have been set up, be it the task force or the team that was formed by the government.

“They have been given full powers to decide on the reasonable legal actions to take to deal with the cases related to scandals such as 1MDB, SRC International Sdn Bhd and so on,” he told a press conference in Bukit Aman.

Council of Eminent Persons member Daim Zainuddin said the government cannot charge anyone at the moment because investigations into 1MDB are still going on.

“We are going to complete our investigations soon. When the investigations are not completed yet, you cannot charge people.

“The people's expectations on us are high, but we cannot disclose. Let the authorities complete the investigations,” Daim told The Star.

The former finance minister was responding to a question on why the government is not instituting charges against Najib.

MACC has questioned Najib twice over the SRC matter while his wife Rosmah Mansor's statement is scheduled to be recorded at the commission's headquarters in Putrajaya tomorrow.

Muhyiddin said Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Yunos, who has been on the run, should be arrested as soon as possible.

“I would like to see him arrested today if possible, but the proper process and procedures should be followed,” he added.

Muhyiddin said inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun had informed him that the Indonesian police have been alerted about the matter.

Similarly, he said the police are also tracking down former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman to bring him to justice.
