DAP parliamentarian Dr Tan Seng Giaw continues to hit a brick wall at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

On Wednesday, he complained that nobody was around when he rang up the office to raise an issue concerning a park in his constituency.

Yesterday, he went to the DBKL office to meet its Parks and Urban Service Department officers, but this proved to be in vain as well.

He said a clerk had referred him to the department's deputy director Siti Zakiah Mohamed, who was out with her director Zarina Ahmad Osman on a 'site inspection'.

Effective schedule

Tan said an officer, identified only as Nawawi, later received his memorandum about the problems at the Menjalara Lake Garden in Kepong.

"He (Nawawi) then referred me to Hassan Hamzah (director at the Architect Department) and another architect Zarina," he added.

However, to his disappointment, he was told that Hassan and Zarina will only return to work next week.

"I walked up the stairs from 20th to the 23rd floor and both Hassan and Zarina were not back from holidays," said the irate parliamentarian.

Upset with his experience, Tan said the government must work effective schedules for the more than one million civil servants to go on breaks.

"Every department must be able to function at the height of a holiday season," he said, vowing to return to the DBKL office next Monday.
