The High Court in Shah Alam today fixed seven days beginning Aug 13 this year as trial dates for the RM100 million suit by Mongolian Shaariibuu Setev, his wife and two grandchildren over the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu 12 years ago.

Lawyer Sangeet Kaur Deo said besides Aug 13, the other dates are Aug 14, Aug 17 and Sept 25 to 28.

"The dates were fixed before Justice Vazeer Alam Mydin Meera in chambers today following case management. The judge also asked parties to sort out the documents and classify which are agreed facts and what are the issues to be tried," he told Malaysiakini.

Shaariibuu and three others filed the suit in 2007 against former chief inspector Azilah Hadri, ex-corporal Sirul Azhar Umar the and government following Altantuya's death. Altantuya is Setev's daughter.

Azilah and Sirul were found guilty of Altantuya's murder by the Federal Court in January 2015 and sentenced to death. However, Sirul had made his way to Australia and is being detained by immigration authorities there.

Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda who was accused of abetting the two former police officers was acquitted.

The court, said Sangeet, is also aware of media reports that Australian authorities may extradite Sirul back to Malaysia within the month.

It was reported that while the High Court had excluded the government from being a part of the suit, the Court of Appeal has reinstated the government back in.

However, the government has filed an application for leave to appeal at the Federal Court over the reinstatement.

Shaariibu, meanwhile, said he intends to meet Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad soon.
