DAP's Liew Chin Tong will file an election petition in the High Court in Johor Bahru tomorrow to challenge the 14th general election result for Ayer Hitam.
In the polls, Liew lost to MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong by a razor-thin majority of 303 votes in the central Johor battle royale.
“The details will be revealed at a press conference by 12pm, after the petition is filed,” he told Malaysiakini.
Liew, who is the Johor DAP chief, added that former Bar Council chairperson Yeo Yang Poh would handle his case.
On May 21, Liew hinted he may challenge the result should sufficient legal basis be obtained.
The Election Commission announced the election result was gazetted on May 28.
Candidates dissatisfied with the result are allowed 21 days to file election petitions, which means the last day for filing is June 18.
Thus far, only DAP's M Manogaran has filed an election petition to nullify the result for Cameron Highlands.
He alleged that the victor, C Sivaraajh of MIC, had bribed and threatened voters.
