Police have arrested two men in connection with a burglary at Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos's house in Ampang Jaya.

Jamal himself is on the police's wanted list and has been on the run since last month.

In a statement this evening, Ampang Jaya district police chief said the first suspect, 29, was detained in Paroi, Negeri Sembilan, on Wednesday.

Whereas, the second suspect, 25, was arrested in Ampang Jaya yesterday.

Hamzah said the pair worked as security guards and both would be remanded for a week from the date of their respective arrest.

On June 17, Jamal's house in Ampang Jaya was burgled by four men who were pretending as his bodyguards.

Police said the security guard who lodged a report over the incident claimed that he was hesitated to apprehend the suspects who told him that they were Jamal's bodyguards who came to take personal belongings for Jamal.

Meanwhile, Jamal's whereabouts remain unknown.

The candidate for Youth chief in the upcoming Umno polls had escaped from police custody while he was under police remand at the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital last month.

He was undergoing treatment for back pain.

He was investigated for a case under Section 34 of the Firearms Act 1960.

He was also charged under Section 290 of the Penal Code for breaking beer bottles in front of the Selangor secretariat building, causing danger and public distress.
