Former Bank Rakyat managing director Mustafha Abdul Razak and its former chairperson Abdul Aziz Zainal were today acquitted by the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court of criminal breach of trust (CBT) and abetment, respectively, in a book publishing arrangement involving about RM15 million.

This after the Attorney-General's Chamber accepted the duo's letters of representation, dated June 1. 

Deputy public prosecutor Afzainizam Abdul Aziz informed Judge Madihah Harullah that the prosecution has accepted the letters of representation.

As a result, Madihah ordered the duo to be acquitted and discharged.

Today was initially fixed for the first day of the hearing.

Mustafha was represented by Kamarul Hisham Kamarudin.

Abdul Aziz, 67, said he felt vindicated following the acquittal.

Mustafha, 50, was charged with CBT related to the banking group's marketing expenditure allocation, at Menara Kembar Bank Rakyat on Jalan Travers in Kuala Lumpur on March 11, 2016, while Abdul Aziz was charged with abetment at the same time and place.
