Perak NGOS told to submit working papers before applying for funding

Non-government organisations (NGOs) in Perak are urged to prepare complete working papers before applying for any allocation.

State character development, women and family development, and social welfare committee chairperson Wong May Ing said the move would enable the committee to channel the right size of funding to the NGOs to carry out their activities.

“I ask the NGOs to submit their annual programmes to my office or any related excos, and perhaps from there we can check and compare how much assistance can be provided.

“Sometimes, I received a request for funding for one programme only, and if I am given the overall planning I may add more funding as required,” she said.

She was speaking to reporters after a get-together with NGOs in Ipoh at the Persatuan Pemulihan Sultan Azlan Shah (Sultan Azlan Shah Restoration Association) building, here today.

Wong also urged the NGOs to enhance their presence in the community so that they would be more popular as this would help them in carrying out their activities.
