Four nabbed slabs of ganja in Kepala Batas

Police have crippled a drug trafficking syndicate with the arrest of four men in a raid in Permatang Kuala, Penaga in Kepala Batas last Sunday.

Seberang Perai Utara district police chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said acting on a tip-off and intelligence, police raided a house at about 2.50 pm and detained four men aged between 39 and 48.

“Upon inspection, police found a plastic bag containing 20 slabs of dried leaves believed to be ganja weighing 20,676.46 g worth RM51,795 in the house,” he said in Kepala Batas today, adding that the drugs seized were believed to be marketed around Seberang Perai Utara and Seberang Perai Tengah districts.

He said the four men, of whom two had previous drug-related records were also tested positive for drugs and the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

In an unrelated case, Noorzainy said a 43-year-old drug dealer was detained with 13,023 g of ganja worth RM32,550 being seized in Jalan Permatang Kuala, Penaga on Monday.

He said the man was nabbed at around 1 pm when he was in a Volkswagen car and inspection on the vehicle found 10 slabs of ganja hidden in a paint can.

“Police then raided a house in Taman Seri Pinang, Sungai Puyu and found three slabs of ganja,” he said.
