The Election Commission will announce the date for the Sungai Kandis by-election on Monday.

The by-election follows the death of Sungai Kandis assemblyperson Shuhaimi Shafiei (above) yesterday.

Shuhami, a three-term assemblyperson, passed away after succumbing to an illness.

This will be the first by-election following the May 9 general election, which saw Shuhaimi winning the seat, securing 55.6 percent of the votes cast.
