Supporters of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak have started a fund to provide him financial support.

Former Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Rafii said the fund was in response to Najib being unable to pay the full amount of his bail, according to The Star Online.

"We want to give moral and financial support to Najib... Najib can only pay RM500,000 and to fund the balance, he has to surrender his house title deed as security.

"Therefore, we want to offer our moral and financial support to him," he was quoted as saying.

Razlan is the spokesperson for the group of supporters, who call themselves "Solidariti Bersama Datuk Najib".

The report said the fund was launched at Najib's residence this afternoon and is seeking public contributions.

Yesterday, Najib claimed trial to three counts of criminal breach of charge and one count of abuse of power in relation to transactions involving SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of 1MDB.

The Kuala Lumpur High Court had set bail at RM1 million. Najib paid RM500,000 and will pay the difference on Monday.
