Kuala Lumpur Mayor Ruslin Hassan will be called by the police next week to record his statement in connection with the publication of a highly-controversial book about him, according to a New Straits Times report today.

So far, 34 people had given their statements to the police. Their names are mentioned in the book titled Skandal Seks dan Rasuah Ruslin Hassan (The Sex and Corruption Scandal of Ruslin Hassan).

Two days ago, reports said police called a guest relations officer known as Sonia, who was alleged to be the mayor's girlfriend, for questioning.

The woman in her 20s denied that she had any relationship with Ruslin as written in the 64-page book.

The author, who used the pseudonym Amir Fitri Hakimi, and three men including two Kuala Lumpur City Hall senior officers were arrested on Oct 27.

They were released on police bail.

When the controversy first surfaced last month, Ruslain claimed that it was an attempt by certain quarters in City Hall out to destroy his career.

Ruslin served as City Hall's director general before his appointment as Mayor early this year.
