Perak sultan chairs Conference of Rulers meeting

Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah today chaired the 249th meeting of the Conference of Rulers today at Istana Negara.

The two-day meeting was attended by all the Malay rulers except for the sultans of Pahang and Kelantan.

Pahang regent Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah represented the Pahang sultan, while Kelantan regent Dr Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra represented the Kelantan sultan.

At today’s meeting, which began at 10.30am, the Malay rulers were accompanied by the respective menteris besar while the governors of Penang, Sabah and Malacca were accompanied by the respective chief ministers.

The Sarawak governor, Abdul Taib Mahmud, was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V is scheduled to attend the meeting tomorrow.
